It is an absolute pleasure and honor to hereby invite your to our conference The Floriade Dialogues as a keynote speaker! At the moment we are organizing the first international conference The Floriade Dialogues that will be held in March 2019 in the city of Almere, The Netherlands. This conference will be held each year until 2022, the year in which the Floriade Expo will take place. Our audience exists of 200 professionals and decision makers from all over the world, varying from policy makers to politicians, students and scientists.
With the Floriade Dialogues we are on a search for the best possible ways to grow greener, healthier cities for all its inhabitants in a world that is urbanizing on a global scale. We are inviting radical thinkers to both criticize and help develop solutions and insights in how to build these cities. Also, we don’t just want to focus on the Western perspective as happens so often, we intend to invite both speakers and participants from all corners of the world. Other guests are activist and writer of Stuffed & Starved Raj Patel (UK/India, confirmed), Urban Futurologist and professor Urban Studies Maartjen Hajer (NL), landscape architect and owner of WEST8 Adriaan Geuze (NL, confirmed) and Alpha Sennon from Trinidad/Tobego (confirmed), entrepreneur of Whyfarm: an organization that aims to increase awareness about the world’s food problems among the youth.
Via several articles and talks we came to know your work. We think you would be a great keynote speaker to elaborate on the topic of what you as a Mayor can do to reach green and healthy cities for all. How can we democratize food in the city? What are the agents of change in crowding cities? How do we deal with our surrounding in terms of producing food and food supply? What role do you see for Mayors across the globe in achieving zero hunger in their cities? Especially your call for a vegan city is what truly inspires us because it’s such a bold stance. I am very curious about your vision on the relationship between access to healthy food, green and the well-being of people in the city.
It would be an absolute honor if you are happy and willing to join us in March 2019. The dates are flexible depending on your availability: the 14th, 21st and 28th of March 2019. Also, we are more than willing to make your stay worth while as you are in The Netherlands. One of the biggest and most important political debate stages in Amsterdam would be very happy to host you too as a keynote speaker, and we have good relationships with the press as well.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any more questions. Looking forward to hearing from you.
